In 1980, frustrated with the labor-intensive grain mixing process he went through regularly on his 60-cow dairy farm, young Jim Zimmerman set out to build his own mechanical forage mixer. 

With some trial and error, he found success with his own intuitive and efficient design – fewer moving parts and a more intuitive feed system. That first mixer made life easier and farming more efficient, and within a few years he had scaled up manufacturing of this original, durable, and effective forage mixer to service farmers just like him throughout the NE.
